Vacation Rentals & Lodging
Where wild Ozark beauty meets off-the-grid adventure
Nestled deep in the hills outside Eureka Springs, Charcoal Gap will be more than a place to stay, it will be a place to create memories that last a lifetime.
Here, golden-hour light filters through the trees, stars blaze in dark skies, and echoes of the past whisper through the woods.
Charcoal Gap will soon offer unique lodging designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. You’ll wake up to birdsong, ride mountain bike trails right from your door, and hike into history at the legendary Charcoal Gap train tunnel — a forgotten path that once fueled the growth of Eureka Springs.
Around 1900, the St. Louis & North Arkansas Railroad blasted a tunnel through a rugged ridge northeast of Eureka Springs to complete the line connecting Eureka Springs and Harrison. That historic bore—known today as the Charcoal Gap Tunnel—became one of only six railroad tunnels ever built in Arkansas. Although a rock slide now blocks much of one entrance, the tunnel remains an important local landmark and is officially listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places for its role in early 20th‑century rail development. And soon, it’ll be the heart of something new: we’re making plans to carefully clear and restore access, opening the tunnel and surrounding area as a one-of-a-kind hiking and biking excursion. Part trail, part living history, and all adventure.
